Re: Patterned fabric, Dwarven or not??

Offhand, I think an open-front, short sleeve tunic / long vest such as Ringulf has here might work:

Perhaps with tablet-woven trim rather than fur?

Re: Patterned fabric, Dwarven or not??

Well, the houndstooth weave is certainly old enough to be pre-medieval: The oldest known occurrence of houndstooth is the Gerum Cloak[3], a garment uncovered in a Swedish peat bog, dated to between 360 and 100 BC.[4] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houndstooth#Design_and_history https://historiska.se/...

Re: Nemo's Dwarf Kit

Cool! That's nicely thought out! I can't help but like external wood frame packs for Dwarves, but confess I don't recall the reference. Am I just imagining things based on a vague memory of the Professor's doodles, or does he actually go into detail in the Hobbit somewhere I'm missing? The walking a...

Re: Some new stuff

Very cool!

I assume you made all those hangers for your goodies as well? It looks awesome!

Do you think you might ever "Dwarf-ify" your sword as well? Or are you leaving it as is?

Re: The Sword Beneath the Cloak (Odigan work)

By chance did you have him do the engraving to the pommel that you had in your concept? No engraving - at first that was just because I hadn't come up with anything I really liked, and couldn't spare the time to keep working on the problem. Now I'm grateful we didn't go down that road. The unadorne...

Re: The Sword Beneath the Cloak (Odigan work)

He is amazing. :) And very good point on the "common persona" observation, Greg. I confess I'd not thought about that at the time, but I'm quite happy that's how it turned out. If/when you request work from Odigan yourself: are you thinking a new sword entirely, or rehilting your Bristol? ...

The Sword Beneath the Cloak (Odigan work)

So you may remember some time back we discussed “ What do you look for in a Ranger sword? ” At the time I’d just finished a re-read of the books, with a mind to trying to picture the material culture going off the tone of the text. Batting that cultural feel around with the practical experience of b...

Re: Numenorean design motifs

I think I rather like that interpretation Caedmon. As much as I love the charming nature of his other doodles, I'm not partial to this aesthetic either. Too jangly and chaotic. I wonder when he did them? They certainly have an early-mid-1960's mod feel to me. Regarding the carpet: my memory is that ...
