Re: 2019 S.W.O.R.D. Game

Last weekends weather was rough here and I’ve been traveling for work all week. Not gonna be back in time to make this one I’m afraid.

*looks up from work project* *looks outside* *sighs* That looks awesome! (And now I see why you like that big ol' longsword so much. ) (In best infomercial voice) It slices, it dices, it...holds stuff up?? Or maybe a nice Hellboy style monologue: Elleth: Does it do anything special? Ursus...

These cloaks are handy...

After all what’s the point of having all this fine foul weather gear if not to use and abuse the heck out of it! Got caught in a sudden snow shower on my ranging today so my new big travel cloak got repurposed into a quick makeshift shelter. Now it’s time to settle in for a pipe and a bit of jerk an...

Re: Keeping ourselves honest...

Oops wrong link attached to the original post. Here’s is the correct one. I should have assumed it would be to good to be true. And looking at it now the shape of the cuff looks more modern and the stitching possibly done by early machine. Somehow following a lead that Romans and Greeks used several...

Aragorn in the media

I thought some of you may enjoy this. It was an interesting if not slightly tedious read.

Re: Keeping ourselves honest...

My struggle for the longest time was that in my opinion the fingerless leather gloves came off as too much of a movie costume rip off with the difference being that Viggo only had one glove. But then again the same could Be said of my bed roll and short bow/quiver set up. Like the gloves though I wo...

Re: Keeping ourselves honest...

I think my lasdhir might be cruising for a light dunking, though. Cool study! I geek out hardcore over these kinda things. Other than the sword the lasdhir and your off hand are actually what drew my eye the most. Have you ever considered adding any type of gloves or gauntlets to your kit? I have a...

Re: Keeping ourselves honest...

I've not worn turnshoes before, how are they for fighting in? would you want something different if you were going to have to eventually confront your foes? Armed combat involving the sword and many other weapons involves very fluid footwork, with the feet never really coming off the ground, but in...

I've not worn turnshoes before, how are they for fighting in? would you want something different if you were going to have to eventually confront your foes? They seem to have worked well for the Danes. I think it’s important to note that not all turn shoes are created equally. My current ones from ...

Re: Keeping ourselves honest...

Overall I'm happy with my current setup. It's medium-light, easily modified, and by design kind of forces me to focus on the bare essentials which is one of the things I like most about it. However there are a few small things I'd tweak. Boots: Like others I would rather have a bit more traction via...

Re: Suduing wood and metal.. thoughts?

Correct. As you boil it down you may add more hulls or powder as needed but go easy on the water, less is more. Once you strain it you can add more hulls and repeat. Mine ends up the consistency of a thinner oil based paint. I use a swatch of sheepskin with the wool still on and wipe them down sever...

Re: Suduing wood and metal.. thoughts?

Here’s the video I was talking about concerning the birch oil as a dye. Also these are great axes for the money and a blast to mod.

Re: Suduing wood and metal.. thoughts?

I dunno. It's not a bad concept to follow, but I wonder at the wisdom in all applications. FYI, Udwin's birch oil is a sealer, but not really a dye. I barely darkened my bow a noticeable shade...just added a subtle glow and a hint of tackiness to the feel. Being a professional hunter and traveller ...
