Re: Rangers report!

It's OK because I still live with my parents so I'm not stuck without money, and both of them have jobs they can do from home, it's just driving me a bit mad because I have to offer constant computer technical support to both of them LOL Sounds like my poor kids. They are my tech support group.

Re: Rangers report!

It's reached day 15 of the lock-down here in the UK, the factory where I work locked it's doors 10 days ago (the ironic thing is we have enough chemical plant to have started making hand sanitizer but the trade unions forced us to close) and I haven't been allowed further than walking distance from...

Elvish names again

So once again, I must admit that my knowledge of the Elvish languages is lacking. I am working on some new things, new translations for the Bard's stage if you will. I need the help of our Elvish scholars. There are two names I am trying to translate. The pixellated Feanor site - or what I get when ...

Re: Rangers report!

While I'm still not as active as I once was, in my long absence, I think I came to some conclusions. Rangers had rough lives sometimes. They fought to survive. I'm sure many were cut down in the wilds defending people who were unaware of their sacrifices. They probably fought famine and disease in t...

Rangers report!

Hail and well met! I hope each of you are well. I know many are in quarantine but my wife and I are considered essential.... okay. I'm just glad to still be working. Just curious: what is everyone up to these days in isolation? I am working on my first full length sword as well as the blade I starte...

Re: Custom sword arrived!

Amazing work Eric C :P the way you made the pommel is clever and the story behind the wood makes it so special I'm still studying the construction of Viking swords and fittings, but I think the way I did it was at least somewhat historical. Very nice ! See, I am using things from that old care pack...

Re: Custom sword arrived!

It's beautiful, both of you! Straelbora, it's a perfect size for Ranging and, if I may add, for an innkeeper to keep tucked beneath the bar to ward off unruly guests and ruffians. What a great piece! I hope to get to see it in person in a few weeks! Eric, your work is fantastic. That looks to be th...

Re: In memory?

Regarding recipient: I think I personally would prefer one with a more direct connection to Christopher Tolkien's family, even if that means less chance of public display. I'm happy to bow to the community consensus there, of course. This is certainly worth discussion. I am NOT the only or even the...

Re: In memory?

That would be great. Sorry about the extra work. That always throws a kink into things we enjoy. I have to remind myself that so does being unemployed. Last night I had to take care of some things for an upcoming Veteran's Admin meeting so I didn't get to check out Pete's site. I will do it before I...

Seriously? Your leatherwork is awesome! It will take me a little time as well. Also, I will be posting pics of the gift you sent me tomorrow (Saturday).

Erm... that just might be the thing to do. Thanks Peter! I will check out the site once I get home tonight. But upon first impressions, it would be great to have our goods displayed there.

Re: In memory?

We have a while. I and another forum member are sort of brainstorming. I'll let him chime in as he sees fit. One major problem we see is, where do we send it? If it goes to the estate, it may end up in a storage room at best.

Ideas, input is greatly welcomed.

Re: In memory?

I would love to contribute to the making of something you made Eric. That would be great! I'm trying to come up with an idea of how this would work. Not all of us are bladesmiths, or blacksmiths. Not all of us are good at working leather (reminds me, I need to post some pics). But each of us is goo...

In memory?

I don't know. I get hair-brained ideas pretty often, but there is something I'm batting around since hearing about Christopher Tolkien's passing. I'm wondering if there is something we could do as a forum to express our condolences and appreciation to the estate. I'm wanting to make a blade and writ...
